Pituko a.k.a. Paul Jove

Biography

A St. Louis-born, Bolivia-raised musician/dj/producer now residing in St. Louis, Pituko's love for music began at the age of 12.5 after picking up an old 4-string guitar & deciphering an old Beattle's tune. Shortly after a couple of guitar lessons, he began to teach himself chords & riffs with the help of other musicians.

As a music lover, Pituko began mixing for friends around the age of 14 by incorporating pop/world/rock tunes in simple tape format. Although it wasn't until he heard Vangelis' "China" that he began to explore the metallic sounds of the electronic world. Some of his other influences include Bjork, Soda Stereo, Howie B, Cerati, & GusGus.

As a dj, his typical set may travel from downtempo, through some tech/house/breaks and arrive to psychedelic trance. His current projects include: Amanda's Dreamscape, Kosmic Turtle, Tracks for Nepol Records, Djing at 88.1FM, Pitukolitz, and a residency at the Upstairs Lounge. He has also spun a good number of one off clubs and events including Atomic Cowboy, Lo, and the most recent Big Pink Brains wharehouse party, not to mention numerous indoor and outdoor events in Bolivia.
